My HD heated grips finally quit working.  I guess I can't complain as they've served me well for 7 years now, but I already miss 'em on chilly mornings.  Thinking of replacing with regular grips and Heat Demons.  Question is, I prefer the larger (1.5") grips.  With my HD grips the grip itself was heated so the heat was right there; with the Heat Demons the heating element is inside the bar.  Does anyone have experience with them using the large diameter grips?  Do they still work well with grip that far from the element?

Thanks.

They will work, it just takes longer to heat up or cool down.

I've installed heat demons on three bikes with kuryakyn ISO grips, they work fine, just take a little longer to warm up that's all.

I have been thinking about heat demons also, are they a pain to install? I assume the bars need to be drilled for the elements wire (internal)?

Doesn't look too bad to me.  Based on the answers I've received I ordered a set this afternoon.

Only one hole to drill, I've done FBW and normal, the FBW takes longer as I had to take the outer bat wing off.
I don't use the cable joiners they supply I solder all the joints and shrink wrap them. Usually takes me a couple of hours but I don't rush.

we've installed many ,,, many heat demons,, with realy good results,, untill the last few month,, lots of failures,, it's to the point where we are concidering not selling them any more,, apparently they were bought out by another company and must of cheapened them up,,

i have them on my '08 and they are great but i bet we have replaced atleast 10 sets this year
