Finally getting to changing my stator. Question: the stator that was in there was a molded one. I'm looking in the J&P catalog and I'd like to get a regular 22amp Cycle Electric but I don't see a molded one. Is it necessary that it's molded?
Also the crankshaft bearing under the stator, I was told can go in either way. Flat side in or out. It's facing in now...
Thanks

There were many companies who made a molded stator. As far as I know, it's to protect the windings in an open primary. It's not needed. A regular stator will hold up just fine. Yes the spacer can go in either way. The preferred method is flat side to the bearing.
EASY
Just ride the damned thing!

Molded stators do protect stator from shorting out in open belt drive applications, they also hold the heat in on stock type applications.I would go with the un-molded
