Knuck/Pan Derby Cover (on the left):

Derby Hat (known as a Bowler Hat in the UK) was common men's headgear worn in the early 20th century when the term "derby cover" was coined:

Side note,, The primary shown there is from the 30s to early 50s.. Late 50s-Early 60s was still sheet metal but a more curvy style.. 65-up was cast and the cover no longer looked like a Derby nut the name stuck.

Knew it was a Derby cover but never got the connection. I am getting older, but I guess I'm not old enough. Thanks for pointing this out. I will add it to my cesspool of useless information! :hyst:

That must be one of those European ones, where it's mounted on the right side. :hyst:

"55 up had a compensator assembly, therefore the change.
Some early derby covers had a raised nipple in the center of the dome.

Can I have a peak at the rasied nipple in the center of the dome?  Just a peak?   :hyst: :hyst:

All I can do is ask of the "owner" of that peak!
Hold your breath until I get a definitive answer!

I can't believe you guys are gullible enough to buy into that hat theory. Everyone knows the real reason:

Grumpy fixed the primary cover but messed up the photos on the wall.

Yep, here's an example of a newer one:

Since it's a Hog, it should have been a Pork Pie Cover.
