speedo question

Have a 95. 883/1200 the odometer shows trip miles, can not get to reset or go back to acual miles.  Is this something can be fixed or do I need to replace it. Thanks for any info.

remove back cover off speedo and cut wires going to reset buttom ,have had a few that the button goes bad ,now touch ends together ,this should switch od/trip face is so you can now replace button and you are good to go

Thanks for the help, I know I will be asking a lot in the future just picked up another sportster that has been setting for 2 years, and the indy I used to use is 700 miles away. And so far not found one here in Upstate NY.
