2009 fork lowers

I have two front fork lowers/sliders off of a new 2009 Road King.  Does anyone know if they will fit a 2004 Road King?  The 2009 lowers do have a different part number than the 2004 RK lowers.  Externally, they look the same so I figured the machining inside the lowers might be different, BWTFDIK.

Yes, the sliders are still using the -00A pn#'s so they will fit

FWIW, the new part number on the 09 sliders is different as I said above but that different number is put on a sticker that is merely glued onto the slider and I found that a bit strange since other numbers are embossed into the metal.  One of the 09 sliders does have "09" embossed in the number but the other slider has "00" embossed which made it a bit confusing.

The 09 pn# you are seeing on a sticker is probably the number for the whole fork assembly.

they will not work unless you change your axle and wheels to accomadated the 25mm axle, that is why the different part# thanks pete

I have an 08 Ultra with the 25mm bearings and I used lower sliders off an 02 and had them powdercoated.  What you are thinking about would apply to changing wheels.

seabrook measure both axle holes in sides of sliders ,i think you will find the09 have slightly smaller hole for axle ,my book shows different part # for 08 and newer and 00-07 there has to be a difference ,thanks pete

It does appear the 09 lowers are the same as previous years lowers.  Everyone is wondering how those lowers can work with the 09 different axle size.   I have not looked at the axles since I am not interested in it, but for those that are interested, maybe they will post the answer for others.  I wonder if HD did not taper the axle ends or bush them to make the new axles work on the sliders.

The 08 started with the 25mm bearings, I have an 08 and am using 02 fork lowers on mine.  They are the same lowers as 08 and 09 and they work just fine.

i looked a little farther and you are correct road-dawg1 they will work ,the kit is different because of wheel spacers,pete

Remember that the front axle is larger than bearing bore on one end and much smaller on the other end that has the nut on it. I do wonder what the weight difference is due to the hollow axle, though.
