Daytona 12V adapter TC88a unable to connect

I have a Daytona TC88a ignition with the 12V adapter for benchtop programming attached to the usb cable and I am unable to get it to upload a map. I made sure that the ports are correct and the drivers are all functioning after I installed the software. I even checked to make sure the 12v unit was putting out power and it is. I keep getting the "RS-232 error". Anyone have any suggestions?
