The HD# 18523-86B actually came out in 1997 the year after I bought my RK. I was fuming when I found out they upgraded the lifters so late in the production of the EVO. After all it only was in production for a few more years after the change. Why did it take HD so long to correct this issue. Anyway I went with a set of S&S lifters only because I got them at a very good price at the time. They look much like the Jims Big Axel lifters.

Not positive, but I believe the A was original axle and B was the upgraded big axle.  I learned the hard way on my '97 when I drilled out the lifter rollers to replace and found they were a big axle.  Replacement rollers only come in original size....  I ended up replacing them with Jim's Big Axle and those lasted only 20,000.  I have Crane's now with original size roller axles... cuz I still have two sets of replacement rollers and the little jig to do them with.....
It slid 112 feet and I had no road rash
