79 XLCR

got a chance to pick up a ( guy says 79) XLCR (almost complete )rollin chassis, how do you tell buy frame numbers what year it is ?

They only made the XLCR's 2 years, 1977 & 1978. If it is a XLCR the first two digits of the vin
will be 7F. The year is the last digit.  Example, a 1978 XLCR vin# 7F00000H8.

they made 9 of them in 79 , that's why im trying to find out if its a true 79 CR frame , but I don't think it is

The XLCR frame will have the extended tube rear section that supports the seat/tail section and tail light mount. Standard XL frame has short extensions with the frender strut mount holes.
