Need to replace the main trans seal on a 2001. Any tips/tricks on removal of the old seal and installation of the new seal would be greatly appreciated.

Hello mate
do you mean the oil seal on the end of the crankshaft, which is accessed from inside the primary drive housing? I replaced mine recently on my '89 xlh. I used a small pair of needle nosed pliers to get it out by pulling on the inner flange. Another way is to put a self tapping screw into the edge of it and pull that out, but you have to be careful not to damage the housing or the bearing behind of course.

If you can't fix it with a hammer and a roll of Duck tape then you're in trouble
