windows 8 and tts

well the kids broke my old laptop running windows 7 and the new one is running windows 8.  I've tried hooking the tts interface up to the bike and it can't find the com port.  with  new laptop I went to the tts website and downloaded all the programs(1 & 2) and the tuning guide etc.  so far I cant get this to work with windows 8. i'm trying to record data on a friends bike.  datamaster 1 says it cant communicate and check the comport.  datamaster 2 wont let me start a recording.  any ideas?
