Inner cam bearing change

07 FL - I am sure this has been discussed in the past on that other host site...

We will be changing cams soon.  When is it necessary to change the inner cam bearings?

I prefer to change them out with a set of B168's full compliment bearings. Just a little more security, even though there hasnt been much problems with cam bearing in a while.

B168 is the number for timken for an 07 bike

Make sure you know the inner cam bearings on a 07-09 are bigger than the 06 and below. The cam journals on the 07 and above are bigger. You only need inner cam bearings. The cam support plate doesn't use them.

Do you have cam alignment pins ?

Hope you know how to align the oil pump up correctly.

If you have the tools to replace them, do it.  The torrington bearings are the best.

Change the bearings. Use the cam tool that is for rent in the for sale section or purchase the cam bearing remove install tool. Easy to use and do. Probably the easiest part of a cam change to do.
