Thanks for having me. My name is David Bassford from Velva Touch Lifters in Maryland. This site comes highly recommended by numerous friends and customers. I am new and as time allows I will search and aid when,what and where I can. I am into Shovelheads and have many cool projects in the works.
The noise your hearing from solid lifters is "Damage in Progress"

Used those lifters years ago when Vern Ott made them.
Good stuff.
BTW, do you know a Barry Bassford?

Barry is my brother. He and my father Barry Sr. worked for Zippers cycle for many years up until around the year 2000.
