It has been done. Kent at GMDAtl does these all the time, but you'll need a revalve and respring.
Get the principles down first, they'll never change.

The stock dyna needs a re valve and re spring. I will have to score the sporty triple trees. the dyna low handles like crap at low speeds and the breaks suck. hoping to cure that.....

There are plenty of options for brakes in an axial mount, which often makes me step back and wonder...

If you're going to revalve and respring, and don't have the trees yet, I'd highly suggest talking to Kent first. He won't over sell you, and he'll give it to you straighter than anyone else in the business. He is an honorable man IME.
