'85 FXR Ignition Help

I have a friend with a High Performance '85 FXR that has a burned out SPYKE nosecone ignition module.  He's been asking my advice about possibly substituting a '95 Sportster unit because he's broke, and just wants to get the bike running so he can sell it.  He's having trouble matching up the wires from the stock FXR wires to the Sportster ignition module.  Color codes are different.  Anybody want to chime in on this so I can help a buddy out?  thanks...jw
