2007 SERT

Hello new to the world of tuning a Harley. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I was planning on using my SERT I got with my bike I just bought, It's a 2007 model. It has been used to tune the bike when the Slips and Air intake were put on before I owned it. I was planning on using MYTUNE to tune the bike but I don't know how to use the software. I'm wondering if I need to know what map was loaded or if I will be able to get it off of the SERT, I know I cant pull it off of the ECM. And with the Data mode can you shut the laptop and put it in the saddlebag or do you need to leave it open. I've used computers for a lot of things just nothing like this. Any help I can get would be great.
