Just finishing up on the motor swap on my son's FXR (home built no specific year) and I want to make sure I've got the oil lines correct on the tank. The tank (FXR tank) has 3 fittings on the bottom corner right hand rear corner. As I recall the innermost is the feed, the middle one is the return and the outtermost one is the breather. Is this right?

This should help.

Glad I asked. Looks like I would have crossed the vent and return lines.

Just out of curiosity, what would happen with the vent and return crossed. Don't both tank fittings just terminate in the tank above the level of the oil.

it doesn't matter if those two are crossed, just like you said
