Kill button

I just got a special construction softail with a evo motor in it, the only way to kill the eng is to reach down and shut the key off, There's no kill switch.
I want to put a kill button like what's on my dirtbike, my question is do I wire the button from coil neg. to ground when I push the button or is there a better way?

Just as long as its not to the hot side that should work fine, but only use it when turning off key right after.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure if I grounded the negative side I wouldn't kill the electronic ign.
