Front axle reinstall

After reading an American Iron tech article and my SM I think I might have pulled my front forks together more than I should have.
I was told by a third party to place a exact size drill bit in the axle hole then tighten the axle nut. Then torque down the axle cap nuts to 5-11 ft. lbs. of torque.

Any clarification on not pulling the forks together excessively would help me.

Just tighten the axle nut before you tighten the clamp bolts. If you want, you can bounce the front end a few times before you tighten the clamp bolts, but I havent really noticed a difference when doing that.
