I have a 91 FLHTCU.  I would like to find a way to convert the "fixed" type of mounting I currently have for the rear trunk with a modern quick release type.  Short of making your own brackets (welding, grinding, chroming) is there anybody that know what later model parts might create a bolt on solution using different later year parts?

I know part of the quick-detach kit for my 99 FL has a -94 part number.
I don't know if they made any major changes between 91 and 94 that would prevent it being a straight bolt-on for your bike.

Mark,

A rummage in my library turned up a year 2000 Parts and Accessories catalogue. Pages 380 and 381.
The Docking Kits fit from 1992-up. You'll have to check the 1991 and 1992 parts lists to see what changed and how expensive just swapping parts versus a bit of bodging will be.
Dunno if you'll still be able to find any of these parts, but here we go...
53127-96B Rear Docking Kit,
53746-97A Two-Up detachable rack front docking kit,
53450-97 Detachable Passenger backrest docking kit,
53104-97A Front Docking Kit

The actual Detachable Tour Pack Rack is 53107-96.
And they all fit 94 later FLHR, FLHT and 92 and 93 FLHS models.

The pictures and descriptions make it quite hard to work out exactly what you need to buy!
I think with the tour pack rack all you need is the front and rear docking kits.

Thanks PC

I will need to go start checking parts books then for differences.  Thanks.
