Tire has 2000 miles on it.  Picked up a roofing nail on the road.  Laced wheel with tube.
New tire and tube  or replace tube?????

I'd go with just the tube. The rubber in the tire will close up.
Beat it to fit, paint it to match

I'd only replace the tire if the nail went through the sidewall.  If the nail went through the treaded part of the tire, consider having a patch put on the inside of the tire (but not required) and install a new tube.

I had a piece of welding rod go through my tread and a patch on the inside and a new tube did the trick. It was a nasty ragged hole though on the inside. That's why we went with the patch also. A roofing nail I'd think just a new tube would be fine.   JMO

I've had 3 flats in my rear laced wheel all small nails/screws and just replaced with a new tube....as long as its not in the sidewall go with a new tube
