I just got home from hospital,,,foot surgery...I avoided the ankle fusion, got Canada's #1 specialist.  Reshaped the bones, removed all broken pieces of bones, remove 2 cysts and removed a entire bone from foot..A qyicker recovery time able to wark in 4-6 months and still have motion in ankle..The only downfall is time off and can't kickstart my bikes....I gonna have to ride the evo all summer...As I'm writing this I enjoyin the Oxycodone...In Canada ,Ontario our medical is paid for thru taxes ,,,,BUT the service is sh%t,,,,there was 2 1/2 waitin list to see a specialist,, then a wait time for surgery...I traveled to BC to a private clinic,,,within 3 weeks the Dr found the problems ,avoided a "last resort " fix....I feel good about procedure and a total investment of $8754.00,,,A small price to pay for a movable ankle....I just wanna return home and ride soon.

So your free socialized healthcare cost you over $8k to have surgery and you had to wait how long with a busted up foot before you saw a specialist.  I was just wondering how much they take out of your paycheck for your free socialized healthcare every week.  Do all my frendly neighbors to the North find this acceptable,  cause I can't wait till they get ours started.

Sorry !!!! Stroker I am glad to hear that you're doing better though and that's the main thing.  Hope you get to enjoy your Summer.

Stroker, glad to hear you're on the mend. Please listen to your docs, and don't try to rush things. I learned this one the hard way. The bikes will be there waiting for ya when you're fully recovered and ready to ride.

Be careful, don't enjoy the oxycodone to much-lol.  Like stated above do what the Dr says.  Don't ride until you are ready.  You don't  want to go back in and get it fused.  Your worst problem will be finding something to do.  I wish you a speedy recovery.

:up:Glad to hear everything went well. I have to ask, how it is that your not suppose to walk around on your new ankle for a few months, yet your doctor will allow you to ride? Man don't rush the healing process. You wouldn't want to do it all over again.

Glad to hear you're on the mend and don't risk all that work you had done by doing too much too soon.

Question:  What do you have that's kickstart only?  My Shovel has a button for when I'm too tired (or lazy) to kick it.

Stroker kneemail for a rapid recovery is on the way!

Now about them oxys...............unless you're planning to stop taking them - from personal experience I can assure you that in less than 2 months of use (even as few as 1 per day) you'll be addicted completely. Everyone's metabolism is different of course but you cannot avoid being addicted if you take them daily.

When it came time for me to 'kick' them - I just warned my g/f at the time and my kids that they were still welcome to come around but that I would NOT be 'very good company' for a few days (I had been on them 4 months while re-habbing this left leg and learning to walk all over again)

Sure enough I stopped em cold - and didn't sleep for 4.5 days. (You know you're going to 'live' when the ole plumbing starts to work right again!)

Good point Katfish about the pills.
Look at the bright Stroker, you'll be riding ..........some can't.

                  Knock off the pills ASAP.
Here's hoping for a fast recovery.

You really hafta ride the evo?  Due to injuries and even being in a cast, I've learned to kick start with either leg....
It slid 112 feet and I had no road rash

Stroker800, If you don't mind sharing some info with me, what type of procedure did you have on your ankle? I've got a bum ankle, results of a baseball injury in '68. Ankle is shot and all the doctors I've been to said the only recourse is to fuse it. Ain't going for that, but I must admit, the pain on some days is bad enough I cannot walk. I am very interested in finding a doctor who could rebuild it where I would still have some movement. If you don't mind taking the time to respond, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

McIII  basically the ankle and foot were crushed at work 20 yrs ago...misdiagnosed at a clinic . I had let it heal to see about a rebreak and set..It seemed to heal fine of so I thought..I resorted to cordozone shots for years...to make it short,,all the DRs I saw wanted to fuse, the specialist,,,had found 5-6 pcs of floating bone frags ,a cyst on the bone, a stretched ruined tendon...He basically re-attached the tendon to make shorter, removed all bone pcs,cut off the cyst ,reshaped and ground existing bones for a better fit and completely removed an entire bone outta the foot...For years we thought it was the ankle ,,turns out it was the bones in the foot directly under the ankle.  There is still no guarentee and the pain now is less than it was on a dailey basis,,Its got to apoint where I have been on pain kilers for 5 yrs(evey day). I hope this help,,,the specialist was the BC Foot clinic in Vancouver,,,Dr Alastair Younger,,,The best in Canada.

glad you were successful on your surgery, like was said, let it heal, those oxys are some potent drugs, they mask the pain and lead you to think you can do more than you should.dont. good luck and keep us up to date

Stroker 800, Thanks for the reply. My case is different. I bropke it above and below the ankle. Over the years, the cartlage between the bones has degraded, and now my left leg is 1/2 " shorter than the right and the bones grind each other on a daily basis. Hurts like hell every day, but I don't want to lengthen it and fuse it. Would make it hard to shift. Oh well, just live with the pain and Jim Beam. Thanks anyway.

Hope you get better soon, as stated earlier follow the doctors orders.  Been there, not foot but I had my right knee repaired back in 95.  Had my meniscus removed, MCL/ACL repaired and an OCD leasion (cartilage between fibula and tibula removed).  Was on a no weight bearing order for 6 months- leg atrophied so much the skin on my leg was like a shar-pei' dog. Codeine was great until I had a bowel movement, take a spoon with you  :embarrassed:  I did like the 2 codeine followed by a Modello chaser, reminded me of the wicked witch in the wizard of oz...I'm melting....
