I am helping a friend put his S&S bigbore stroker shovel topend together and am wanting to double check which way the pistons face. One has a large eyebrow cut on the bottom of the skirt for rod clearence. the other has a small one. thanks.

.. the piston with the big cutout (eyebrow) is the rear .. the other with the smaller cutout is the front ..
.. the pistons go in so the cutouts face each other ..
.. the cutout is for rod, flywheel, and piston to jug clearance ..
.. it must be there on the jugs as well so the piston misses the cylinder's skirt at the bottom of the stroke ..
.. the jugs should have near matching cutouts on the bottom .. if not, you need to put them there ..
.. you do want to check all clearances before final assembly ..

good luck

Thank you, That is the way I have it, I have a friend that I call for info but sometimes I feel like a bother. Thanks again for the double check!

If it is a BIG bore you might have to cut the bolt that goes holds the cases together between the cyls. I know & and others have that bolt there.
