Well the ol' 77 is back on the road. Since it's been almost too hot to ride down here anyway I've spent the last several weeks with the bike on the lift while I changed all my seals, sprockets, chain, oil lines, clutch, tappets, tappet blocks and push rods. I also isolated the primary and installed evo style axle adjusters.

Now the bike goes down the road nice and straight and doesn't piss oil everywhere. At last, a Shovelhead that doesn't leak oil! For how long? Who knows. Just have one more thing to do - install the Vulcan single fire ignition. But I think I'll wait for the weather to cool down a bit for that.

What do you mean by "Evo style axle adjusters"?   Bill

Maybe not OE but I do like the looks of the square blocks if they fit nice and snug in the swingarm for more support.

On that I agree...The MoCo was Skimpy at best in this application.

I use those and they are very good. They prevent the possibility of crushing the swing arm.

In my O.P. I didn't say they were OEM. I said, "style." Perhaps I should have said "stock style" for the Shovelhead ones also. Figured folks would make the leap between the designs. Anyway, I cleared it up.

They fit snug as a bullfrogs ass under cold water. If you've been using the round style you'll need to do some filing inside the SA to even out the sides.

I don't mean to jack your thread, Arby, however...
There's two different squares style blocks offered on eBay that don't have the adjuster portion included. One is just the square (rectangular?) blocks and one is the square blocks with a nice thick washer for the axle nut. I recall an HTT member commenting on both of these and wondering if the nearly double cost was worth it for the ones that come with the thick washer. I can't seem to bring up that thread. Anybody got the skinny on these?

Actually you said "Evo Style"  to me anyway, Evo's are OE.
Besides which....the Evo and Shovel had the same adjusters...At least mine do.  Interchangeable in fact...
Neither here nor there!
The Style you chose is in fact an UpGrade.

Arby,
Are those blocks steel or aluminum?
