2006 sportster 883r

Hey guys I have a 06 sportster 883r with a 1200 kit. I want to get a speedo/tach combo but a lot of the ones I see say they won't work with the 1200 kit. Any ideas why? I don't understand why the electrical has anything to do with the engine size. Appreciate it thanks.
