One thing in your favor with a Custom, is that you have some extra length available in the wiring under the handle bar riser cover simply by flipping the connectors. This extra length will allow you to go to buckhorn, or something close, without having to add wire. Cables and or brake line are relatively easy if needed. If I remember right, for a buckhorn you need a longer brake line and clutch cable. The throttle cables can be rerouted to work.
