i am putting a 5 speed in a 4 speed case into a pan head using a 65 to 69 primary dose any one know what the difference is between the 65 to 69 starter shaft and the 70 to 84 shaft  thank you

     The 65-69 starter shaft is shorter (1/4 to 3/8 IIRC) than the 70-84, just as the oem sprocket shaft on 65-69's is shorter than that on the 70-84's. Also, the bendix fork collar on the 65-69 starter drives is shorter than that of the 70-84's. I gots a nice 65-69 style complete with bendix if you are in need.
