Neck bearing preload & swing adjustment

Is there a quicker way to set the preload and check the swing on the front end triple tree then what the service manual says? I don't have a socket that big to torque it with and was hoping someone came up with another method to get the slotted adjuster under the nut set & the bolt tightened down (snug then half a turn etc.).
