a friend needs to know how much new oil goes into his 03 883 sporty need help please.

Oil tank capacity with filter:  3 Quarts / 2.8L

Dont over fill it, start with 2.5Q or 2.4L then run till warm and top off as needed.

:up:  I've found if I go 3 qts, it spits a little more than a 1/4 qt or so out the breathers....

If I recall, the total oil capacity on my '04 1200c is 3.8 qts. I believe that during my previous o/c, it took 1 qt less than full capacity. I believe this may be because the oil in the trans doesn't drain during the o/c. Reguardless, I'm absolutely positive it took roughly 1 qt less than total capacity. Remember to buy an extra qt anyway, because if your's is anything like mine, it will burn some off between changes. -Steve
