I built a 107 132hp/126 tq for a customer a year ago 9300 miles to be exact. It starting burning excessive oil to the tune of a quart every 400 miles. So I did a compression test and found it was good at 205 /205. Did a leak down test it was good. So I pulled exhaust and intake found excessive oil in the intake and lots of carbon buildup on the exhaust side.  Tore the engine down and found the ring lands for the weisco pistons were grooved to the point that aluminum pieces were behind the oil rings.
I called tman and sent the heads, pistons, cylinders to him. He admitted to me there was a issue with the weiscos they used in that 107. He took care of the entire problem with a new updated piston and freshed up the heads. I have to say im impressed with TR for being a upstanding business man and always a guy who will return your call. The engine is back up and running in 2 weeks down time.

I'm not surprised that you had a problem with the Wiseco pistons. Good to hear that you were taken care of in straightening it out.
It must be true,I read it on the internet.

Product support and customer service, that's good news

There will always be issues of one kind or the other in any business, It's how they are handled that matters.

The new pistons have a different skirt design and have a bigger coating area on the skirt.

No I didn't take any pics. It was only in the oil ring grove. you could see where the scraper rings wore into the ring land. I would assume that the piston material was not hard enough. Kind of weird seeing pistons have been being made for over 100 years now but nothing surprises me being a automotive technician.

Do the new pistons still have those skinny oil rings with no radial tension?
