Cylinder studs

When I tore down my engine the rear cylinder stud threads were very dry, brown, almost like rust. Should I coat the stud threads and head bolts with oil or lube before reassembly?

yes, its in the sm

Although not often required, its common to replace the OEM studs with higher grade studs. If for no other reason than peace of mind.

Clean up the threads(small wire brush) then put some oil on a rag and wipe them down.. then a couple drops will go on the threads and a couple drops under the head of the Head bolt itself.
