Took my Tomtom out of its box after sitting about two weeks (it's about 6 months old)  and it wouldn't turn on.  Hooked it up to the computer and it would turn on in a couple minutes and was OK.  Do those batteries run down when they're not used?

Yes, common for GPS, Phones, Cameras, etc.  At least your TomTom will charge via the USB.
