Or...I can get a 2005 sportster engine for a Grand. Seems a Good deal, carb charging system and all..
But, I don't have no Rubbermount frame..I have an old '85 frame.
Looking at it, I know anything is possible, but, This may be more Hassle than worth??
Any Thoughts??
Thanks

The back of this motor is where the swingarm is supposed to mount. And as I'm sure you've noticed, the swingarm on an '85 chassis mounts to the frame.

Then of course you've got the front mount situation, which is two big donuts on the newer motor instead of the plates and bolts arrangement on the older frame.

So putting it in a pre-04 frame is going to be major surgery to either the engine case or the frame or both, depending on how you go about it.

You can make a road racer out of a coffee table with enough time and effort and money.

Exactly what I was asking...Thanks.
I don't like the damn integral lifter blocks and limiters anyway..Thanks S&S!!!!

Blast '85 frame and take pics, then prime it (use primer-sealer, primer is porous to moisture) or hit it with black appliance epoxy for the sexy.

Craigslist it for a highball price (titled frames always sell) and put the money into one of your FXRs.
