My friend boogered his up. We have a really old school hardware store in town, thought I would take look for him.  I need thread, understand its a lefty, and overall dimension.  Thanks in advance...  I tried search with no results

It's not a standard nut. The hardware store won't stock it. Use the correct part.

Just order one online (with replacement seals if trans is a four speed) and kick him in the ass for not owning a factory parts book.

Match it up with a picture on the sellers website so you get the correct nut.

When you ask a technical question, you gotta say what you are working on.

These bikes do have model designations, and in the case of an `84, you need to know if it is early or late 84, especially in the clutch area...
