Are the new tran covers (seen below) compatible with the old (seen above '82 fxrs) arm style. With the wider 113" engine, the cable is not going to be able to route behind the pushrod tubes.

You would have to get a later bearing door and clutch cable as well to make it work.

Good opportunity to get rid of the old tapered shaft transmission and marginal old starter while you are at it.

Yes you can swap covers -but you need a new trap door and cover and release -ball and ramp might also need to change pushrod.
that said you can run the cable on the primary side of cylinders-might help. g

Thanx - if only I was make of money.
To put on a newer starter and clutch would be nice.
I had to lift up a pushrod to fit the cable in between it and the engine.
I am making a 'new and improved - custom' bracket, 1.25" to the nosecone side for the clutch cable.
I suspect a 'pro clutch' is in the future instead of the 3 finger for the 113".
Always something!

Shovel 4-speed cables come out the left side with no fuss. That might be an option. Plenty of people sliced and diced release arms for various custom controls over the decades....
