Help me on return spring lenght

Hi
I lost the starter solenoid return spring from the XR1200 ( same starter as spt ) so instaled a same spring from a BT , but the gear was too far over the strter ring gear, so please someone let me know teh correct lenght for this return spring for sporster model.
