Been a lifetime ago since I rode one. Memory seems to recall in the area of 35-37 average. Not as good as one would think. That would be the 1952 EL stroked to 74" and the Linkert. I believe the SU and later the Stromberg was better but never checked for an exact number.

Seems I was getting around 45 with my 88 inch pieced together after market engine in the FX frame.  That was with a shorty E, but I don't try to get places in too much of a hurry.  It has been a few years since it was together, heat and HUMIDITY have kept me out of the garage but I ordered a 10,000 btu A/C that will be in next Monday, should keep the work area tolerable.   Yeah, I know, getting old and less tolerant of the double H, but it will be back on the road before the Cannonball comes through this September.    :chop:

I put together a stealth "Indian killer" pan in the mid 80's
93"
S&s carb, big valves, etc
Smoked all the Indians in town, but most never knew what was inside the cases!!!
Could get 40+ mpg from that setup if I rode easy!
Don't tell 'em!

I only get about 30 with my 48 EL stock specs.  Hunting for a gas station well within a 100 miles which makes riding the Blue Ridge Parkway interesting at times.

My older 48 mtr , with Mallory unilite & CV 40 got around 48-51 MPG , stock points & Linkert was about 34-36 mpg.

I don't have many miles on my 65 with Points & CV 40 , 88 stroker yet, so it will be a while before I even test it .

My chopper is super light. Dual plugged heads, electronic multi spark ignition and a CV40 carb. I'll get low 40s around town. On highway runs I consistently get 62mpg. I think the light bike and narrow front cross section help a lot on the highway.

My 80" Pan w/lightened flywheels, Andrews B grind, and S&S Super B carb, points ignition got 40 city and 42hwy. By comparison my 1988 80" Evo got 50- 53mpg, but the Pan drew waaay more attention from the ladies.

Either way it's the bike that draws attention. I'm to ugly.
