Going to be doing a 88" to 95" conversion on a friends 2005 electra glide this winter . Trying to get all the parts rounded up . He rides allot of hiway miles every year mostly solo . Been looking at the tman 510 torqster and the andrews 37 cams . Heads will be freshened up and have some minor port work done but will use the stock springs . Compression can be set anywhere it needs to be . Which of the 2 cams would you guys pick for this setup ?

I know it is not what you are asking, but the tw26 is hard to beat for that with a 30 thou. cometic HG. I did one like that and it was one of the best riding bikes I had. Should have kept it.

2006FXDCI

Ive used the 26 before on an 88" . Runs good . Not sure if its suited for a 9.5-9.8 to 1 95" though .

I'm never wrong , once I thought I was wrong , but I was wrong

Why use a .040" head gasket ? I can have the heads cut to set compression . Ive always used a .030" head gasket when possible . Pistons are usually .002"-005" in the hole . What compression ratio do you guys reccomend for the 37's ?

I am running a 57-H in my 95" (2006)  It basically a high lift 37 cam. I am using the .030 gasket and have a CCP of 9.6:1  at 200PSI Avg between both holes. Runs really good. However i am very happy i installed comp releases in the heads as it a bear to start when warm with out them.
2006 FXDB , 95" 57H +4% cam, 10:25 pistons: Ported head's. Lots a fun

Too much lift with the 57's using stock 2005 springs . If not i would be looking at the 57 , great cam .

The Red Shift 527 cam is a bolt in for those 2005 heads and has very similar specs as the Andrews 57 cam.

I think the 05's have beehives and can handle 57's.

2006FXDCI

This one has the old double spring . I just changed out his rocker box gaskets that were leaking and took note of the springs . Thats when the owner asked about bumping it up to 95" this winter . Ive only done 2 cam swaps on the older twin cams , both were 88" , light bikes and used the 26 each time . Looking for a little more grunt as this bike is an ultra and compression can be optimally set as the heads are coming off .

Well josh not in your pick of cam's but a  S&S 570 at 10.1 with a good tune I had one years back,BVBOB tuned it later in another bike,I sold it for the 131,that was a ass haulin ultra, mine was a 06,Out of the hole it finally took a tman 107 to get around me at 100,when that happened I did the 131 to never look at tail lights again...........  :hyst:  :hyst:

Just Sayin I'll get a beating for that advice......... :emoGroan:

Oh I ran the SE max lift .575 heads with those cam's they had Man. Release's stock TB,and I ran Rien.true Duals, the second guy ran a Rien. 2/1 pipe it did even better mine the both pulled over 100 each in both categories,no cooler and you could Bang 50 miles to the gallon with that set up
2 Bikes and 2 Beemers, that's what I have been told 😳

TorQuePimp

an 05 should have beehives...odd

I'm with the 37 camp and depending on piston....a .030 or .040 gasket

2006FXDCI

Mike , the 570 is a great cam . I have used it in a bunch of 10 to 1 103" motors with head work . Real fun bikes , the one that i tuned myself made 105/117 sae . Owner is on a budget , i have to talk him outta the crappy stock Y pipes and put a nice 2-1 or power dual on it . I know hes not gonna put the cash out for a full on head job !

I thought the same , when i changed the bottom rocker gaskets i saw the springs were the old double spring setup . Maybe because its an early 2005 ? Maybe used some left over heads from 2004 ? Whats the max lift you can go to on 2005 cases without having to machine the cam bearing bosses for clearance ?

I had the TW26 great running 95ci went to the 37 with high lift rockers .030 hg, best running bike I ever had. Pulled from the bottom to the limiter. Should have stayed with that but that never happens.

Did you use the rockers on both intake and exhaust with the 37? I'm puttin in the 37 now, and thinking about the rockers. Some people say only use on the intake, not sure?

I thought you could only get the 57 H cams for 2006 Dyna models and 2007 & up Twin Cams.

Isn't it Common for HD to use the old previous year parts up on the Following First 1/2 year model year? (even with a change like Springs in Heads)

Can't see them Restocking "build parts" like for (example) 50 bikes with the new; until the old run Out...  :nix:  :fish:

So you have double Springs not B-hives...

Pretty sure that H is Andrews term for 2007 (06 dyna) and up.  I know G is for gear, N for conversion and TW for chain. Sure wouldn't put a TW anything in a 2005.  Get rid of that setup and use an N cam (convert to the REAL hydraulic setup, not hybrid).
