oil cooler

Hey guys have not been around in awhile, been riding since I got my bike finished. I'm installing an oil cooler on my 02 sporty, I bought the dual finned one . I did not buy the adapter, I've been told in goes on the return side of the lines going to the oil tank. Please correct me if I'm wrong.... The return line is the line and fitting closest to the crank case and in the front of the oil pump. So just cut into that line and include the oil cooler...is it that easy?
