The inlet on the muffs the new bikes use are larger that last year's cvo muffs

Catalyst is in the head pipe as with previous models, however it is shaped differently and is mounted further back in the pipe, the 2017 mufflers do not actually have much for baffles and surprisingly the right muffler which has a 2.5" inlet has a reducer up near the front of the baffle. We have done some initial exhaust testing to determine which route we will be going including a few muffler designs and there are still some gains in performance and sound with slip-on's, however the bottleneck is the catalyst. We'll report more in the next week or so.

Key points:
catalyst is moved rearward with larger outlet than earlier models
left outlet is further back
head pipe mounts to engine cases with P clamp
12mm narrowband O2 sensors have been moved upstream closer to exhaust port
crossover pipe has an S bend and the volume is compressed more than earlier pipes
material is now stainless steel

That is a much bigger outlet on the right, for sure! Is the muffler more restrictive to for e more exhaust to the left side, or is there just a lot less exhaust going out the left?

Looks like an easy pipe to cut the cat out of, plug up the left side and make a 2 into 1 out of!
