I thought I was the only one to use rubber bands to hold the rods, usually use the old base o-rings. Will this be getting the new cnc heads?
If you don't have a sense of humor you probably have no sense at all.

HV

No I wanted to use them but the customer just wants the HD Stage 3 Kit ....I use the base O rings a lot but ran out of them...so the used  Derby Cover Quad seals work great and I have a crap load of them around

Can you check the pinion shaft TIR if you have time and report your findings.

Maybe it's just me, but I was hoping for something better then that. While .005 is well below the .012 limit, that .012 is a cave man tolerance. Prior to the 07 crank fiasco the max has always been .003, as in 100 years ago.

"New & improved" Ron!  .012 is sloppy for a lawnmower wheel.
Lean Angle, " Is Life."

HV

Measured in a truing stand the limit is .005 ...so this one would likely check in at .002 or so

Question for you guys who know better than me the Harley mechanic. According to my invoice, the dealer put the 24018-10 cam bearing instead of the 9298A which is the one listed in the Screaming eagle catalog for the M8 engine. The dealer change the bearing while he was doing the state 3 kit on my 107. Is that possible that they are the same bearing knowing that there are two bearings in the 24018-10 kit because it is a twin cam kit?

Yes, the 24018-10 box contains two 9298A bearings.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Just curious what the runout is on these new cranks. I know it's not that big of a deal with chain drive cam.  Thanks

Thank you so much Rigidthumper.

No they are a composite and the lifters are a snug fit in them ...lift them up and they will not fall down ( with Push Rods out )
