  I went to the Progressive site and looked at their 440 fitment chart and it looks like they don't make a 11" set for 4 speed frames (FX FLH).  Did you buy a set for an XL and they just bolted on?

Mine were originaly intended for either an XL or an FXR. The main thing is the springs. Mine are the heavy duties and they're rated at 110/155 lbs. The standard  duty shocks for an XL are 90/120's. I weigh 170lbs and usualy ride solo so they work just fine. If the springs are too light Progressive will change them out for the price of the springs which is about $70. Personaly, if I were going to just buy a pair I'd go with 11.5's to be on the safe side.
