After many attempts, and with the help of fellow members I finaly found how easy it is to post a photo. Anyway, I really like my new smoked lenses although I'm sure they're not to everyones liking. This photo also shows my new shocks pretty good. I've also included a picture of my new Dakota Digital Multi-gauge and mount. It's a vaoltmeter, oil pressure, and oil temp gauge. Posted it once before in general so sorry for the repeat if you caught it before. I'm about to push the button. Hope this works.

No porn....like Shovel porn.

Ooops sorry, that is Evo junk!    :teeth:

I do believe that there be EVO porn.  Great job job Gryphon!!!

I thought abought doing something like that before selling my evo to buy my shovel.  Thought I was REAL original - was gonna use a rubber mount Paughco frame that looks like a 4 speed, was even gonna get fender badges with that "Dou-Glide" look but that said "Evo-Glide".  Then I was looking at a 10 year old copy of V-Twin and damn if the Big Dog Vintage model hadn't ripped off my idea - and at least 10 years before I could think of it, too!!!

Is that one of those new fang dangled evolution motors I hear people talkin bout?  I'm not use to signals so I had too have a look to see...very nice ride!!!!

Well ya know, that's one of the downfalls with having ahomebuilt bike. Where do ya post. Most of the stuff I've done doesn't have any place on the EVO board but the motor and driveline are way too new for the Shovel board. I did have a shovel motor in if for a few years but then I put that in the bike I built for my son. By the way Vin, I had that same ideas. Thought it was my idea only. Still an original thought, just not a new idea.

Who cares where ya post - it's a great lookin' scoot!!  More pics are in order.  Gotta hand it to you Gryphon - I took the easy way out after thinking of all the work it would take.

Maybe we should have chop/homebuilt section for pics.  A lot of creativity in this place.

I like that ride wherever you put it. All the work and upgrades apply here as well as anywhere. I always liked the way those powdercoated tins came out.   Started as a shovel anyhow LOL!

I thank you all for the compliments there fellas. I just always felt more "at home" on the Shovel list.

gryphon......Is that an altered four speed frame, a specialty frame, or a "short" SnS motor?  Whatever the hell it is, it sure looks great!  Randy

Randy,
It's a combination of those things. It is a Paughco frame. Four speed style but stretched behind the seat post to accept a 5 speed tranny. The motor is about 3/8" shorter than a stock evo motor. It has a 4 inch bore but only a 3 7/8 stroke. Equals 97ci.

Yeah, those wheels are off of an '07 FLHX. That's probably about the 4th or 5th set of wheels on the bike over the years. Front wheel was no problem since it has  late model touring forks in  '49 thru '84 triple trees. Back one took a little more work. Especially since I had to leave room for the rear wheel speedo drive. It has changed gradualy over the years as my wants or needs have changed. Bike has been absolutely reliable with both this motor and my old shovel motor (which is now in my sons bike). This shortened stroke big bore motor is smooth and has extremely fast excelleration up to about 90 mph. I used to have a 6 speed overdrive in it but took it out since I never actually needed it ( it did come in handy one year though while crossing the Nevada desert). If you look carefully behind the oil tank in the blowup you can see the stainless fuse panel I mounted. It's loaded with the plastic two pronged fuses that are armed with little LED's. If a fuse blows the LED lights up red to make it easy to find the culprit. Some of the lines in the photo's are a little funny from resizing. Also, so as not to clog up the site with tons of space robbing photo's I'll likely have to delete these in a few days.

Awesome looking bike!!!  Thanks for pics, Gryph.

Hope you don't mind I downloaded them for future reference - in case I ever do get the courage (and time, and $$, and space, etc.) to try something like it.

They're not taking up any space on this HTT site, http://photobucket.com yes but we can always upload them to http://www.imageurlhost.com

Gryph......Your shocks look really short.  Are they less than 11"?  Randy

Just an illusion because of the way they're built. They're 11" eye to eye but drop about 1/2" from the weight of the bike. These are Progressive 440's and they're way a nicer ride than my old 12" Progressive 412's. Normally way more than I'd spend on shocks but i got these for $200 NIB (new in the box).

"give ya $210 and shipping for em"

I wouldn't blame ya a bit. I been watching ebay to see if another pair will come up at this price and I'd get those for my son's bike and just sell my old (almost new) 412's that were going on his. It's pretty startling what guys are asking even for well used 440's. Glad I bought the ones I have when I had the chance.

randallwhitman

So here's a dopey question......why didn't you cover the split between the tanks?  Just like the look?  Randy

Covering the split between the tanks is something kinda new to me. Something I never seen for probably the first 20 years that I rode. Guys would pull off the pogo seat for something else and that space would just be there. Never even thought about it.  Things may have been totaly different in in other parts of the country
