I looked in my 1954-81 XL parts book and found no spacer #5902. You'll have to give more information than that. What year of XLCH? Is it front or rear brake switch? Is this a stone stock bike or an accumulation of junk thrown together? A picture would be good.

The spacer #5902 is for the rear brake switch bracket for '59 to '70 XLCH's, bracket mounts at rear two holes of tin primary cover, and is listed under Stoplight Switch heading of Xl book '52 to '59 on page 78-79, Ignition, Light and Stop Switches in '55 to '65 book page 92, and Ignition, Light and Stop Switches in '57 to '67 book pages 100 to 101. It should be under the same heading in your '54 to '81 book. Problem is parts books give no dimensions for the spacer. NOS Parts sells them for $3 each, but a minimum order is $50. I can make some out of stock I have on hand if I know the length and width. I bought a V-twin bracket kit, and it came with the wrong fasteners and no spacers. The spacers fit over a round head screw,1/4-20 x 1-1/4 long. This bracket is going on my '57 XL, an accumulation of junk carefully planned and meticulously thrown together. Any info will be helpful. Thanks!

made mine out of a 3/8 retainer pipe from a railroad freight car. it's exactly one inch long and as long as ya can squeeze a 1/4 X 20 bolt thru it you should be good to go
