2007 clutch question

installed new cable. Spring and lock nut slipped into case. After drainiing, and reoming new cable and had to remove inner plate to retreive adj screw-now adj screw is all the way CC. Per manual- finger adj screw until 'play' felt-then CC again until'play' gone. Book calls for FULL CC turn to adj,then button up- wont turn CC that far -backed off 1/4 turn and closed up- havent run out ye- but on stand,in neutral -some rear wheel engagement, slow turn of wheel- need advice before road test-follwed the book as best I could but can always makw mistakes-any experience? sure would be gratefull

  • Full slack in the cable adjuster <--- important! If you skip this step, the throw-out arm ends up over-rotated and you don't get disengagement
  • Run the screw ccw until it lightly seats
  • The run it CW about a quarter turn.
  • When putting the lock nut on, go more CW as needed to get it to align.
  • Button it up.
  • Adjust cable for 1/16 to 1/8 slack where the cable housing meets the lever assembly.
