Just completed a 1000 mile ride and frankly the FLHX shocks I have on the my 09UC Suck.  Thinking about the above, Would like to hear from those who have these or a comparable equivalent.  I will need whatever I purchase, to be lower than the stock shocks.  (30" inseam)

Also would appreciate any discounters to purchase from.

As always, TIA

I run 1 inch shorter 440's with the heavy duty springs, and couldn't be happier. I bought mine from Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse, through Underbid.com and paid either $338 or $388. Can't remember which, but it was the best price I could find at the time.

I run 440s on my 05 Road King Custom for just less than 3 years. Only issue I had was that at 220# I was told by Progressive to order them with Heavy Duty Springs. The ride was too stiff or harsh with the heavy duty springs. I swapped the springs for the standard springs and all is well now. Even when riding 2-up.

Well, here's a question for ya.  My 05 FLHTC since new has felt like it bottoms out on occasion.  Actually, bottoms out is not correct, I get a slam that feels like the swing arm rebounded too far after the bump.  Anyone think the 440's  (or 412's - I'm a cheap basterd) will fix that?  I always ride solo, but my weight is more like 270 plus some tools and "junk" in the side bags.

I run 412s on my FLH shovel and am pretty happy with them but the most I've done in one day with the 412s is 200 - 300 miles.  Although I have not personally compared the two I've been told there's a world of difference between the 440s and the 412s.

Sounds like you are topping out which is usually caused by too much pre-load. With the 440's, you manually set the amount of pre load. I go with the heavy duty 440's and then a small amount of pre load for my ultra. Works well for me.

I have 440's I got them at MAW for $388 standard length and spring.  I am 190 or so and wife ~150 :embarrassed:, and they are a big improvement over stock.  I have a set of new stock shocks and I trade off from time to time just to see the difference.  I just put the stock shocks back on last week and it does not matter what air pressure I use the 440's out perform the stock shocks.  I have had to send the 440's back once for repair due to leaking and one looks like it might be headed that way again.

so if i put these 440,s on my 99 eg ultra , disconnecting the air to my stock air shocks wont hurt anything. thanks gds

no, just keep the shocks upright or the oil can run out.
