I aquired a new-to-me FXR that has old tires on it that need replacing, I am looking for tires that aren't as sticky as a sports bike but that allow some deep leaning in to the turns....Does any have some tried suggestions
Thanks

See if Dunlop makes an American Elite that will fit it

I use a 140 Dunlop E3 on the rear and a Dunlop E2 491 on the front of mine...no problem dragging pegs.
16" rear, 19" front...both stock 9 spoke mags.

Yep. Only tire I liked better on my old '94 Sportster were the Dunlop 591s.

I've been very satisfied with Metzler ME880's on my 1988 FXRS-Sp for the last twenty years or so.

Avon Cobra,  best grip and steering of any cruiser tire I've found.  Mileage is ok.  I don't get much more mileage from harder tires like an E3 as I push hard enough the harder tires struggle for grip.

Night Dragon was the worst tire of all I've tried.  I'll pass on those and the Metzler cruiser tires which are made in the same Brazilian plant.

I'm running Michelin Commander II dual compound tires on my 2005 Wide Glide.

Granted, it's no FXR, and I'm not leaning the old girl over far enough to scrape sh_t, but I think they handle very well, and the increased mileage (15,000 to 17,000 kilometers) over the stock Dunflops (10,000 to 12,000 kilometers) is a welcome bonus if you like to rack up the miles.

503,044 kilometers, .... I'm on my 43rd Rear tire, and 30th Front (NO burn-outs, strictly riding)
