To summarize for those with short attention spans.....

HV IS HTT.

Seems to me, that the ban should extend to all companies, not just dealers, none of this can be substantiated in any way, ie SNS, ElBruto, Midwest, J&P, Samson, or Teds Indy Shop.

So if you can't complain about a bad deal with service it should apply to any company?

To be fair, it should...

And, eliminate the shed!  lol

maybe a compromise would be to post a site ( a weblink) that deals with the very issue at hand. A site that lists good and bad about dealers and that could be a public service to HTT members - by the way I see the point as this - HTT means Harley Tech Talk and I interpret that as 'wrenching'. The site owners are responsible for anything seen as libelous posts by their members at least as the site is set up now. If any post can be demonstrated as having a negative effect on someone's business then a possible lawsuit could be filed and it would be against the owners/management of HTT. HTT made it possible for that person to post a negative comment and that is not even going into the legitimacy of the post.

Yes this subject can be emotional and there are always two sides to every story but as some have pointed out there is a legal consideration and 99.9% of the posters here are not the ones that would be named in any possible lawsuit. There is a site that let's you post all you want about dealers - good and bad and it is called Stealers and Dealers.

I will make one final comment - since I don't think negative or positive comments about dealers fall into the realm of HTT I believe the HTT management has been very tolerant of such posts in deference to the members here and I applaud them for that but maybe, just maybe the time has come to put people on notice that certain posts are putting others in legal jeopardy and I think that is what HV has stated but I could be wrong. It appears he is protecting the continuing existence of HTT is my assessment and as all decisions are it will be second guessed.

All the above is purely my personal opinion and in no way a legal opinion and as such not liable.

I guess if the Mods want to think everything that is said negatively about a dealer experience is bashing they will lock the thread.
I don't think the Mods are that way.
I would like to believe that many threads that appear this way really start out as a way of venting and are looking for input that will help them resolve the problem.
Many of us a guilty of helping the bash instead of helping resolve the problem.  That's when the Mods step in and lock the thread.
Food for thought.........This is only my opinion and not influenced by anyone in anyway.   Glen

That is pretty much what is happening.
Listen to the jingle the rumble and the roar.

I am not going to name other forums but will say this forum is the best managed and probably the most informative of all the forums I have been involved with in the past, also now I only subscribe to this and one other forum and kudo's;s to the moderators here I thinkyou are doing an excellent job.  Anyone having a problem with a particular dealer what I havw found to work is to confront the personnel or management in the middle of the showroom at the busiest time you can.  REED

Ideally we should be able to complain about bike service the same way we complain about any other motorcycle product.....but life ain't ideal.

Even if dealer complaints were OK'ed and dealers resonded half the threads would just turn into p!ss!ng contests and as much as I enjoy a good p!ss!ng contest, I don't enjoy em as much as I do the tech info I get from this site.

I figure if there is a site as someone mentioned in an earlier post for the purpose of complaining about dealer service then that would be the place to do it and leave this site for tech info and specific hard product opinions only.

It might be hard to figure what is OK and what is not but that's the admin's job....if we don't like the way they do it we can always leave. For sure there is no way they will keep everyone happy all the time.

Just my ideas on the subject,

Besides I am not really all that interested in seeing what kind of wall paper Panzer has got up in the shed this week.
