Anybody ever built (or seen) a stand to mount a TC 5 or 6 speed transmission on? I know there was one years ago for evo style transmissions. Want one to mount on my bench to do some repairs. Pictures please if anyone has one.

Thanks, that is one that I have seen before. I don't know how it would fit a TC front (trans to motor) side, maybe a small piece of angle iron?

Looking to make one if I get a good picture or dimensions.

This isn't that complicated! Just weld up a couple "L" brackets with holes to mate up to the engine mounting hole on the front of the tranny.

i have a 12 by 12 7/8 steel plate with 4 vertical bolts . bolt trap door 4 wing nuts . so cartridge is vertical for assembly and disassembly

if your referring to the case out of the frame i just place it in the vice. i cant see a bracket holding it steady pressing bearings and output gears

It might if you bolt it to the bench.

That is what I did years ago with the one I made for a softail tranny. Was very secure.

Yes, sorry, case out of the frame. The one Road-Dawgs1 posted is what I was thinking of just wit a flat plate in the front to bolt up to.

i just dont get it. tranny clamps in vice at rear fork shaft ears in seconds

If you want to get a bit crazy, get a plate large enough to bolt to the engine mounts, weld a pipe to it sticking straight out and get a larger pipe that fits over the first. Weld the second pipe across a flat plat. Bolt or clamp the second pipe and plate to a bench, slip the first one through and you have a tranny work stand you can rotate. Plus add a couple holes in the pipes for stop pins. Like a mini engine stand.

Kind of like I did here for my R1 engine.

I don't think you'd find it too hard to make. Just start with some of the basic pieces, cut a little long, use your case as a template and tack weld the parts, test, grind the welds off and redo if needed. When satisfied, weld it up and paint it. The cost in a few steel sections from a local steel store or even Home Depot would be cheap. Ten just make another as needed for the next application.

Nice idea, I like it. As mentioned below, looks like it would work with a motor stand.
