Not really new technology, but not really leveraged against automotive applications yet. Not a fan of anything related to electric vehicles in their current state and feel they are an interim solution until hydrogen becomes more developed. This sodium ion stuff could be a game changer, or maybe not.

Hydrogen will revolutionize the industry. I remember watching Bob Lazar show off his C4 vette and Hydrogen charging station in his driveway. People thought he was crazy. Unlimited amounts of hydrogen all around us.
I've never met anyone to dumb to get it but many to smart.

So you're saying Big Oil may not be endorsing this option?
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.

So you want to run around in a car with a tank with a hydrogen bomb in it!
Liquid is 150 psi and gas is 5,000 to 10,000 psi. Not me.
Till the next ride

I always am hopeful when some newer technology appears on the motorcycle horizon. The link below is for basically some universal type batteries. I had never heard of Sodium Ion batteries until now. But I will watch for them to evolve.

While I recognize that ICE vehicles cannot be sustained not can they be replaced 100%, and I like the idea of being able to power electric vehicles from multiple root sources, I do not feel the current lithium/cobalt/lead battery technology is much better for the planet. Hydrogen is certainly sustainable with several very positive second and third order effects, it comes with dangers that must be mitigated before use by masses. This bring us back to electric vehicles. A sodium battery, could mitigate a lot of the current noise against electric vehicles. In the end, an electric vehicle with batteries that do not wreck the planet and can be recharged from a grid that is tapped into every type of power available would be attractive to most users. Maybe.

Big Oil will always the biggest hurdle. Though they still have plastic.

Not true at all. The government has mandated some pretty steep requirements on automotive manufacturers for both mileage and pollution. Dodge was buying fuel credits from Tesla but that dried up about the same time that Dodge announced the end of the Hemi. Coincidence? The big three have and are continuing to invest heavily in non ICE powered vehicles, as well as lightening various components.

I work for an aerospace company. Aside from satellites, we also have a group that does composites. I had to go to an automotive materials lightening conference this summer near Detroit and was amazed at what I was. The hot shots did not like non ICE, but at the end of the day, they really do not care. Cars have to be built and sold. They will figure it out, but at the end of the day, it is just a product to them.

That's good to hear. Hydrogen truly is the best technology for environmental and for distance. So is cold fusion.
