While at the store I looked at the heated gloves and jacket liner and both had "made in china"  on the label  :dgust: The liner $220, gloves I believe were $189, posts on old site said H-D stuff Gerbing...not at "my" dealer  :crook: .

LOL, as long as you feel more better after the rant its all good.
You aint from the Langley BC Canada area are you ? ;)
I have no experience with the heated gear, but do have the FXRG gloves and like them when it gets cool. Other than the stupid windscreen blade on the left forefinger is a pain when you go and whipe that booger off the end of your shnoz :(

I was interested in buying a HD heated jacket liner, I had heard that it was made by Gerbing.

HD was a 1yr warranty, Gerbing has a life time warranty on the heating element.

I called Gerbing (1-800-646-5916), they said that they do make the HD heated gear and would cover it under the life time warranty if there was a problem.

I have not bought a heated liner yet, I did buy a pair of Gerbing G3 gloves...they are made in China.

I just recieved my NEW Gerbing Jacket, ordered it on-line, they are indeed "Made In China", ....

I bought some Widder electric gloves a few years ago and they were American made.  I'm not sure about now but it might be worth investigating if you're tired of supporting China's economy like I am.

My gloves and Socks say made in China, and the Jacket liner says made in the USA.? They must have been making them there for a while because I've had my heated gear for years and it was all bought at the same time. What I do know is that they stand behind there product a 100%

Scoop, I checked out the link, warranty till 12/31/08...WATS up with that...like RK101 says, believe Gerbing is lifetime? Didn't see anywhere that says "made in USA" on website...  :pop:

Do yourselves a big favor don't buy your heated gear through the H/D dealer your involving a middle man that you don't need to get involved. Either get it on line through Gerbings or go to one of there authorized Gerbings dealers that sell under the name of Gerbings. Going to one of there authorized dealers is the best way to go ,trust me on this. Like the old saying goes to many hands spoil the soup. If your not sure about the size you need then go to the Dealer and find out ,then do what you gotta do.
I don't want to sound like I'm bashing the dealers but there are allot of people who work at them who know nothing about the heated gear other than it gets warm.

Additional $20 for HD vs Gerbings catalog...haven't bought anything yet, trying to decide whether to buy both jacket liner and gloves, or gloves alone. I heard it's a little bit of a PIA to run cord thru whichever you choose to wear, suppose if always using same jacket it wouldn't be too bad. I'd like to get both bikes "wired" to be able to ride either.......but as ya heard ËCONOMY IS BAD    :dgust:   RKC03

P.S.    they have all the accessories (ie cables, thermostats, etc) in the Gerbring catalog  :smiled:

RKC03,

Yeah, I saw that blurb about the warranty thing and wondered WTF that meant.  My only experience is a set of Widder electric gloves that work well.  I bought them several years ago so they may now be making them overseas.  If Gerbing has a lifetime warranty that would be a big plus.

Too much horsepower is almost enough.

Gerbings warranty and customer service was great when I just returned my 4 yr old gloves.  One glove decided to quit and Gerbing replaced with a new pair.  Door to door in less than 2 weeks.

RKC03

brwk, do u have the jacket liner too? if not how do u run the wires? thru the sleeves each time or always use same jacket?  TIA  RKC03  :smiled:

RKC03....I only bought a jacket liner this year, so this is what I did in the past....

I have a FXRG jacket for cold weather, so I ran the wires inside the jacket and left it there all winter.  I used zip ties to secure it in the back part of the jacket...there are some tabs inside to zip tie to.  Left the wires coming down the arms between the liner and leather of the jacket.  This kept the wires from pulling out everytime I took off my jacket.  But, before I put it on, I had to make sure the wires were pulled out enough to get a hold on them to plug in the gloves.  PITA, but it worked okay for me.

If you dont have a way to secure the wiring inside the jacket with velcro, or zip ties, its hard to keep it in place every time you take it off and put it on.

Hope this helps a bit.

Bet that FXRG jacket cost a bit more than $200 (cost of heated liner) , then could use it under different jackets...hmmm, then the glove would plug into jacket....around $400 for both gloves and jacket liner...make me commit to riding more in the cold, as long as that salt crap and cinders are off road  :dgust: , need the permanent wiring for 2 bikes...have to go thru Gerbring...save at least $40 on the jacket/glove combo and who knows how much on accessories...Thanks for all replies...think I've made my decision.     RKC03  :smiled:

I'm with ya....tho, the jacket was a gift from 8 years ago.

I wouldnt buy one (FXRG jacket) today, knowing I could go with a lighter jacket and the heated jacket liner.  I only started looking at a heated liner because I recall past winters wearing 3-4 layers under the jacket.  Too restrictive and makes you feel far removed from the bike and the ride....which isnt very safe when the mind starts wandering (hmm...is this like it is in the womb? I am so snug and warm, I could take a na....oh @#$%^, a truck!!!!)  ;-)

I definitely recommend a light jacket and the liner..best way to go.

RKC03,
Yes I have the liner.  Infact mine is an HD and my SO has the Gerbing....and the HD one had to have the arm seam re-sewn.  The Gerbing seems to be of thicker material.
